The purpose of the Business Acknowledgement is Domain Message Specification/payload/context sensitive and can for example inform the sender that the payload has been processed and/or delivered to a clinician for review. For example, a Business Acknowledgement may implement the following:

• Received document at the correct practice
• Patient matched
• Correspondence seen/not seen by GP/Clinician
• Correspondence filed

A Business Acknowledgement is requested by the message sender setting a Distribution Envelope handling specification with key="urn:nhs-itk:ns:201005:ackrequested" and value="true"
